This is ac power supply input ,which is usually located at the backside of the laptop and it allows to use AC power Instead of battery power and also it allows to charge battery.The adapter unit which is usually a plastic casing equipped with 3 pin male plug at one end to be connected to 230v AC power supply and other end with female plug to be connected to laptop.
